JAN CARPENTER TUCKER

CREATIVE DIRECTOR • DESIGNER • DIGITAL SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST

Jan Carpenter Tucker is J.L. Carpenter Design, a woman- and minority-owned sole proprietorship. Since 1983, Jan serves a wide array of clients including business-to-business, consumer, high technology, healthcare, nonprofits and more. Through bright, bold graphic design and strategic communication methods, Jan helps clients promote products and services through
1) print communication (cards, brochures, fliers, newsletters, books)
2) digital media (websites, email, social media, slide decks)
3) placemaking (interiors, signage, displays)

Jan knows current trends, ties elements together in meaningful ways, and carefully crafts strategies for effective communication and content delivery. Jan works with service providers like herself to round out any team’s capabilities. One of Jan’s greatest pleasures is guiding authors to self-publish beautiful and exquisitely edited, designed and printed books through her company, Night Star Publisher.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

For 11 years, Jan’s company was the advertising agency of record for NDC Systems (gamma gauge manufacturer in Monrovia, CA). She and her team helped build that company’s brand recognition as they grew from $2 million to $30 million in sales with offices in Ireland, Italy and Germany and literature reproduced in as many languages.

During her time at Aesthetics, Inc. (healthcare design firm in San Diego, CA) Jan administered the Blair L. Sadler International Healing Arts Awards, produced two CDs about the winning projects and compiled the materials for a book about the winners and their projects. She was also responsible for the company’s Request For Proposal (RFP) response efforts and helped triple the company’s success rate on projects won.

Jan started out as a receptionist for small, growing Action Instruments (process automation company in San Diego, CA). She advanced to art director and was inspired to return to school to follow her passion for design. Jan and her team helped the company build a world class image for five different product lines through literature, advertising, direct mail and trade shows to support a national base of sales representatives and distributors.
